donk tops the FACEIT Matchmaking leaderboards for the fifth straight season while fresh talent shines in FPL, ahead of our Season Six 3,600+ Elo reset!

FACEIT Aluminati

It’s been a wild season, from Vitality winning the Austin Major, Overpass returning and shaking up the meta, to tomorrow’s professionals forming teams in FPL! Check out Season 5’s top players below, as well as the dates and changes coming next season. We’re also raising the bar so only players above 3,600 Elo are soft-reset - anyone below this threshold will not change automatically with the season. For the top 0.67% of Level 10s above that point, they will not be placed below 3,600 Elo after the reset. This soft-reset will happen on Tuesday, the 22nd of July 3pm CEST as we kick off Season 6, which will end on Sunday, the 23rd of November Sunday, the 16th of November at 6pm UTC (updated end date), again with over $100,000 in prizes!

Season 5 Winners

Counter-Strike’s biggest star: donk

The world’s most talented player continues to refine his tournament skills in matchmaking! For an incredible fifth straight season, the legendary donk once again claimed the leaderboards top spot with 5,283 Elo. Although donk lead by over 400 Elo, he was joined in the top spots by world-class competition with kyousuke from Team Falcons in 2nd place and m0NESY in 3rd. His consistent top-tier play with Team Spirit and hunger to bring them back to the #1 World spot is an inspiration to players of all levels! Congratulations to donk on yet another remarkable achievement, and best of luck to the upcoming amateurs who aim to dethrone him in Season 6.

Europe FPL Winner: Ryujin

Uzbek Ryujin absolutely crushed the European FPL this season, snagging the top spot and raking in $13,950 thanks to 3 weekly wins, on top of placing 4th in Matchmaking with 4,851 Elo! Competing against other rising talent from ENCE, NAVI Academy, and even professionals like smooya didn’t faze the ARCRED rifler, with a 61 point gap between him and second place, thanks to a 56% win rate! Ryujin's climb to the top was all about his non-stop, consistent grind and his ability to adapt to anything thrown his way in-game. With a showreel of clutch plays under his belt, Ryujin's definitely one to watch in the tough European esports scene. We can't wait to see what he pulls off next season!

North America FPL Winner: Calamity

In North America, Calamity finally clinched the championship this season, with $7,400 racked up over 189 wins and several outstanding performances. This victory is a testament to his incredible dedication, building on his consistent improvement following second-place in FPL last season. With an impressive win rate of 54%, Calamity has proven himself to be a formidable force in the FPL circuit as his team InControl looks to earn ESL Pro League BYOC Qualifier LAN qualification in the Advanced division in the ESEA League. Let’s see if he can hold on to the top spot this season!

South America FPL Winner: fokiu

In South America, fokiu came out on top after a close battle with BALEROSTYLE, securing $2,850 through a series of exceptional displays in 130 wins, tactically allowing him to rack up the most points over just a few standout performances. This is a hard-earned victory, reflecting his tireless commitment since being left without a team since March this year, and putting him at the top of the list for promising Brazilian free agents! Boasting a remarkable win rate of 53% and a talent for game-changing moments with 74 clutches, fokiu is definitely one to keep an eye on!

Middle East FPL Winner: -0scar

In the Middle East, -0scar dominated the competition this season, earning $2,750 through 80 wins with a whopping 58 points ahead of his closest competitor! His consistent high-level play, resulting in an impressive 62% win rate, firmly established him as the player to beat in the region. As he approaches almost 6,000 games on FACEIT, he draws on years of high-level matchmaking experience.

What’s new in Season 6 (starting 22nd July)

Celebrating Season 5’s top players with Profile Badges To end Season 5, we’re spotlighting the best players with profile badges to archive their achievement. All FPL players in Season 5 will earn a badge, and those who ranked in the top 10 will receive unique badges to flex their final standing. Similarly, Challenger Rank players will receive tiered badges showing if they placed in the top 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1,000.

Season 6 Elo Soft-Reset for players above 3,600 At 3pm CEST on 22nd July, we’re soft-resetting our highest Elo players to keep the race to the top competitive as they fight for Challenger Ranks in the next season. There’s no sitting on high Elo to coast. If you have a Challenger Rank, you’ve earned it by grinding at the highest level. We’ve now raised the bar so only players above 3,600 Elo are soft-reset - anyone below this threshold will not change automatically with the season. For the top 0.67% of Level 10s above that point, they will not be placed below 3,600 Elo after the reset. This will help give players fairer matches by preventing larger skill gaps right after the reset, leading to several stomps before the best returned to higher Elo. Similarly, this will reduce the number of unbalanced games caused by high Elo level 10 players who were reset and had to grind back through the 2,000s to reach similar opponents. We are currently working on announcing our initiatives to improve anti-cheat and smurf prevention, and will update you soon.

Hello Overpass, bye-bye Anubis! Additionally, some of you may have already noticed, Overpass was added back to our map pool last Wednesday, replacing Anubis to keep aligned and help you practice the official competitive map pool. Here’s a guide from Party Astronaughts austin, walking you through flashes and positions to help you win your FACEIT matches.

The soft-reset for Elo (for the players above 3,600) and kicking Season 6 off on Tuesday 22nd of July, and ending Season 6 on Sunday 23rd of November at midnight UTC (at the end of the day), giving you all 4 months to qualify for the grind for that Elo before our next winners are announced! See you on the server, or stay tuned for a viewer’s guide for Season 6!

Who should I look out for?

Season 5 also revealed a wave of new talent and you can follow their FPL games on FACEIT Watch to see the playstyle of these new rising stars! Check out our list of who to look out for in Season 6 below:

Europe - Mail09

Last season, Swedish MaiL09 was on a mission. Grinding day in and day out, he climbed to the top of the FACEIT leaderboards and earned his shot at FPL. He didn’t just show up, he dominated winning his debut season, earning $3,200, and proving he belongs among the best.

Since joining FPL, he has highlighted how valuable the experience has been, both competitively and personally. He didn’t stop there: with two weekly wins under his belt, his consistent performance caught the eye of the scene. After a standout run alongside veteran Lekr0 in team Johnny Speeds, he was recruited by Metizport, marking a major step forward in his career.

North America - Laxiee

Laxiee has been a consistent standout in NA FPL, earning multiple top-five finishes on the weekly leaderboards and securing a top-10 placement in Season 5. After being picked up by team BLUEJAYS, he went on to take 4th place at Fragadelphia ahead of more established NA organisations like NRG and international squads who had travelled for the event. We’re excited to see what he’ll accomplish as we head into Season 6.

South America - edv

Among the wave of up-and-coming talents, edv stands out as one of the most promising Academy AWPers to watch. Week after week, he’s in the FPL grind. His dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed. With a few chances to step in for the main RED Canids roster, edv has already shown glimpses of what he’s capable of at the top level. The 21 years old Awper is one to look out in the future.
