Terms & conditions

Last updated: 1 Sep 2026

Last updated, and effective as of 01 September 2026.

These Terms and Conditions, including the Code of Conduct, Organizer Code of Conduct, the Banning Policy, the Content Standards (collectively, the “Terms”) govern your use of the Site and the Services provided by ESL FACEIT Group Limited, a company registered in England & Wales (company number 07751649), whose registered office is 25th Floor, Millbank Tower, 21–24 Millbank, London, SW1P 4QP, United Kingdom (“FACEIT”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), and its subsidiaries and affiliates.

“Site” means the website located at www.faceit.com and any of its subdomains.

“Services” means the Site and all products, features, and functionalities we make available via the Site or any associated applications, APIs, or interfaces, including (without limitation) the FACEIT Anti-Cheat, account registration and management, matchmaking, competitions and tournaments, digital storefronts, payments and billing, customer support, and related communications.

“FACEIT Anti-Cheat” has the meaning as defined in the FACEIT Anti-Cheat software end user license agreement;

By creating an account on the Site (becoming a “Member”) or by accessing or using the Site or Services without an account (a “User”), you (“you” means the User or Member accepting these Terms) agree to the then-current version of these Terms available on the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised version on the Site (showing the “Last updated” date). Changes take effect as of the effective date indicated in the revised version. If a change is material, we may also provide notice via the Site or by email. Your continued use of the Site and the Services after any update constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Additional terms may apply to specific Services (for example, competition rules or eligibility requirements). If those additional terms conflict with these Terms, the additional terms will govern for that Service. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect how these Terms are interpreted.

As set out in more detail below, we may suspend or close a Member’s account - immediately and without notice - if that Member breaches these Terms or we reasonably suspect you may do so. We may also restrict a User’s access to the Services for the same reasons. Where required by applicable law, we will provide notice to you. If we close an account for breach, any remaining balance will be handled in accordance with applicable law and our policies (for example, reversing fraudulent credits, applying refunds where due, or offsetting amounts you owe against amounts we owe you).

If any provision of these Terms is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall, to the minimum extent necessary, be deemed modified to render its validity and enforceability while preserving its original intent. If such modification is not possible, the provision shall be deemed deleted without affecting the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions, which shall continue in full force and effect. The invalidity, illegality, or unenforceability of a provision in one jurisdiction shall not affect its validity or enforceability in any other jurisdiction. Where a provision is deleted, it will be deemed replaced – to the extent permitted by applicable law - by a valid and enforceable provision that most closely reflects the original commercial intent.

We operate the Site and Services under the laws of England and Wales. The Site/Services may not be lawful or available everywhere. If you access them from another country, you must comply with the laws that apply to you, insofar as this does not conflict with our own legal obligations. This section does not limit any non-waivable rights you have under applicable law.

You must meet the age and any other eligibility requirements that apply to a given activity or Service (for example, the minimum age for creating an account or to join a specific game). If you do not meet those requirements, please stop using the Site and Services.

Eligibility and Age

1.1. Registration (and use of the Site or Services) is void where prohibited by applicable law. The Site and Services are intended for individuals aged 13 or older. If you are under 13, you must not access or use the Site or Services.

1.2. By accessing or using the Site or Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years old and will comply with these Terms. If you are between 13 and 18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you confirm that you have obtained the consent of your parent or legal guardian to access and use the Site and Services and to agree to these Terms. You also confirm you will follow all applicable game/platform age ratings and, where required by law, have your parent’s or guardian’s consent to enter these Terms. Certain activities may carry additional eligibility requirements.

Competition Eligibility (Members only)

2.1. To enter competitions that require registration you must:

a) be a Member;

b) be physically located in a territory where participation in the relevant competition is lawful; and

c) comply with these Terms and all applicable competition rules (including any game/platform, region, rank or other criteria stated at entry).

2.2. If you are 13–18 (or under the age of majority where you live), you represent and warrant that you have any required parent/guardian consent and will provide their contact details if we need to verify consent.

Verification and Proof of Eligibility

3.1. We may, at any time, require a User or Member to provide proof of age, identity, residency, game/platform eligibility and (where applicable) parental consent in order to enter or continue in a competition, access Member-only features, or claim a prize. We may suspend participation, results, prize processing, or account access until verification is completed to our reasonable satisfaction. If you do not provide satisfactory proof within the timeframe we specify, we may disqualify you, cancel entries, withhold or reverse prizes, and/or close your account. For help, contact us via the FACEIT Support Form.

Information required

4.1. When you register an account or upgrade features, you must provide accurate and complete information, which may include:

a) username (alias)

b) password

c) email address

d) date of birth

e) the country in which you are based

(collectively, “Registration Data”)

4.2. You agree to: (i) provide true, current, and complete Registration Data and keep it updated; and (ii) promptly supply any additional information we reasonably request for eligibility, security, payments, fraud prevention, or ensuring compliance with legal obligations.

4.3. We may, at our discretion, modify or remove usernames that are offensive, misleading, impersonate others, or violate the Content Standards (incorporated into these Terms), and we may suspend or terminate accounts created with false or incomplete information.

Accuracy of information

5.1. To use the Site and Services, you agree to:

a) provide true, current and complete Registration Data;

b) keep your Registration Data and any other details you give us up to date;

c) keep your login credentials, including your password and multi-factor authentication information, secure; and

d) be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5.2. If you knowingly provide false or incomplete information, or fail to keep your details current, we may suspend or close your account and take other reasonable action. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, please notify us promptly via FACEIT Support.

Verification

6.1. FACEIT identity verification is not essential in order to create a Member account. Verification supports the integrity on our platform. The process may require a smartphone, a face capture and/or a valid identity document. If you complete the identity verification process, you’ll receive a “Verified” badge that may appear on your profile and in search, discovery and other social features.

6.2. At our sole discretion, some elements of the Service may be limited to Members with verified accounts. We may require you to complete the identity verification process, where reasonably necessary, for example to:

a) enter certain competitions or experiences;

b) access or retain access to parts of the Site or Services (including where our FACEIT Anti-Cheat or other security systems indicate that extra checks are needed, and where we manually decide that such extra checks are needed).

6.3. We may restrict or suspend access to affected features—or to your account—until verification is successfully completed.

6.4. Please see our Privacy Notice on how we handle personal data collected for verification purposes.

Recommender systems

7.1. We use automated systems to rank, order and recommend content across the Services (for example, search results, competitions, missions, shop items, clubs and social posts). These systems help surface items that are most relevant to you, which is an integral part of our services.

Our ranking and sorting systems

8.1. We rank and sort information in several features of our Services. These ranking and sorting automations are recommender systems. If you like, you can use filters to narrow down your results, or change the default sorting settings. We sort as follows:

a) Within our FACEIT Shop products are listed by recommended products, product price highest-to-lowest, or lowest-to-highest, newest/oldest products. You are always able to sort items by these categories. Our default sorting is set by admins and they choose what is listed in which order (such as popular items that we want users to easily find, newest releases, and items that we want to promote);

b) Our Ladders, which are published in the FACEIT Play page, are sorted by active (ongoing first) and upcoming (descending on end date). Our default sorting enables you to quickly consider whether you would like to join the first possible Ladder;

c) Our global and country rankings rank players based on their Elo rating. These rankings can be viewed globally or filtered by a specific country. A player's inclusion in a country-specific ranking is determined by the country flag they have selected on their profile. This system allows you to gauge your performance against the broader community and see who the top players are;

d) Our Missions are sorted by welcome mission first, then paid subscriptions, followed by sponsored Missions, then after that, the "most playable". This latter category is set by our admins and they choose what is listed in which order. Our default sorting ensures you get introduced to this feature;

e) Your social feed shows posts from your network or that are featured. These posts are sorted by the last interaction date of the post. Your network consists of your friends, Members and organisers that you follow. Last interaction date is the last time someone from your network posted or reposted the post. This helps you to stay up-to-date with the latest posts;

f) Our clubs directory is primarily sorted by a club's recent activity, specifically the total number of FACEIT matchmaking matches played by full parties from that Club in the last 24 hours (matchmaking means the FACEIT service that facilitates the creation, organisation, and operation of online matches between players or teams through automated or semi-automated processes). To enhance visibility, a club's ranking is also boosted based on several factors, including its management by organisers verified by our staff, whether it's managed by an organisation, the club's member count, and the number of countries it accepts members from. Additionally, featured clubs that are handpicked by our staff per game/region/country are displayed before any other results. This enables you to easily find players for a match to play against, or to team up with;

g) Our Looking For a Group Lobbies are sorted from most to least recently created, with new parties appearing at the top. By default, the list is filtered by your selected game and by joinability, meaning you will only see parties that you are eligible to join. You can apply optional filters to further refine the results. This enables you to easily find the latest available parties;

h) Our FACEIT Track - match history is ordered by date;

i) Our FACEIT Track - Maps sorts by default your performance statistics by matches played per map. We apply this default sorting setting as this enables you to see the statistics most relevant to what you played;

j) Our Friend suggestions entail your Steam friends with a FACEIT account sorted by account creation date. We suggest these friends as you may know each other from Steam, and you may want to play your next match on FACEIT.

Personalised recommendations

9.1. Some of our recommendation systems go beyond your search parameters and our default ranking and sorting automation, as they make personalised recommendations based on your profile, your statistics and your interactions on third-party partner platforms. We have implemented the following personalised recommender systems:

a) Our Branded Missions automatically enrol you based on the location and age you included in your profile, and the number of matches you played on FACEIT. This enables you immediately to start playing the Branded Mission when you are eligible. In case you don’t want to play, you can leave the Branded Mission at any time;

b) Our Branded Missions - suggestions for challenges are recommended on your actions taken on a third-party partner platform. This incentives you to complete the Branded Missions that you joined;

c) Our advertisements are recommended based on the geolocation of your IP address, your device category, which version of the Site you use, and your age included in your profile. This ensures that you see advertisements that are relevant to you, and to prevent you from seeing advertisements that are for adults only;

d) Our Sponsored and Branded Ladders - are recommended based on the location and age you included in your profile, and the number of matches you played on FACEIT. This enables you immediately to start the Sponsored and Branded Ladder when you are eligible. In case you don’t want to play, you can leave the Sponsored and Branded Ladders at any time.

9.2. Even if you do that, we may still retain some information about you so that we can provide you with our Services and give you a more convenient experience, such as setting your language preference on our platform based on where you are. This could be information you provided, e.g. the location you identified in your profile, or that we gathered based on how you interact with our Platform.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity on your account; until you notify us of suspected misuse via FACEIT Support, activity under your account will be deemed to be yours and you will be responsible for it.

14.2. We monitor for multi-accounting and related abuse. If we detect duplicate or linked accounts, we may close the extras without notice and, for repeated or serious violations, suspend or terminate all accounts. We may also require identity, age, residency and/or location verification at any time (for example, to enter certain competitions, claim prizes, or where our security systems indicate extra checks are needed). Access to features—or to your account—may be limited or suspended pending satisfactory verification.

14.3. You must not conceal or misstate your location or identity to bypass regional or eligibility rules (for example, by using VPNs, proxies, IP spoofing, device emulators or similar tools). To protect the integrity of the Services and comply with legal requirements, we may restrict, suspend or block access from certain regions, IP ranges, networks or devices (including devices previously linked to violations).

A preliminary list of winners will be posted on the Site immediately following each tournament or league, except in the case where substantial prizes are involved (as determined by the Site in its sole discretion). In this case, the winners list may be delayed for up to five (5) business days following completion of the applicable tournament or league, as the Site needs this time to verify the results and to assess any potential abuse. The Site reserves the right to amend in its sole discretion the winners list at any time after the 5 business days if an Abuse is found.

Exchange rates and fees are outside FACEIT’s control - please check with your bank or payment provider. Refunds, where applicable, may be issued in the original payment currency or subject to conversion at the then-applicable rate; you are responsible for any FX differences or fees.

33.1. If you reside in a country that is part of the European Union or the United Kingdom and have purchased a Paid Subscription or Code online, you are entitled to a statutory right of withdrawal within fourteen (14) days of purchase (the “Cooling-off Period”) and may receive a full refund.

33.2. Where you are entitled to a statutory right of withdrawal and where you purchase digital content not supplied on a tangible medium (i.e. the Service), you expressly: (1) agree during the purchase process to the immediate performance of the agreement; and (2) acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. By confirming your purchase, you request that we make the Service available to you immediately, and that you can no longer exercise your right of withdrawal.

33.3. Where you are entitled to a statutory right of withdrawal and where you have not waived this right (e.g. where you purchase services or other content for which the right of withdrawal has not been waived in accordance with applicable law), you can exercise this right by sending FACEIT an unequivocal statement via support.faceit.com. We will acknowledge receipt of your withdrawal request on a durable medium (e.g., by e-mail). To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication before the Cooling-off Period has expired. For digital content and subscription services (including Paid Subscriptions), where access is provided immediately upon purchase and you have expressly requested immediate performance and acknowledged that you lose your statutory right of withdrawal, you will not have a right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed or access has commenced, to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you cancel your payment and/or terminate the Terms after the Cooling-off Period is over (where applicable), we will not refund any fees already paid to us except where required by applicable law.

33.4. Notwithstanding the above, and separate from any statutory right of withdrawal, FACEIT may operate an internal refund policy under which refund requests may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Such refunds are discretionary, may be limited to the most recent payment only, and may be denied where the relevant service or Subscription has already been used or consumed. FACEIT reserves the right to amend or withdraw this internal refund policy at any time.

33.5. If you purchase a Paid Subscription, the applicable subscription fee will be charged immediately to your selected and/or saved payment method (which may include, without limitation, credit card, debit card, bank account, digital wallet or other supported payment method). . If the initial payment attempt for a new Paid Subscription is unsuccessful, access to the Paid Subscription will not be activated until payment is successfully processed.

33.6. Your payment to FACEIT will automatically renew at the end of the subscription period, unless you cancel your Paid Subscription before the end of the current subscription period.

33.7. Upon automatic renewal, we will attempt to charge the applicable subscription fee using your saved payment method. If a renewal payment attempt is unsuccessful, we may at our discretion continue to provide access to the Paid Subscription and its benefits for a period of seven (7) days and retry charging the applicable fee during this period (the “Grace Period”). We shall have no obligation to provide access during the Grace Period. If payment is successfully processed during the Grace Period, the renewal will be deemed effective from the original renewal date. If payment is not successfully processed by the end of the Grace Period, we reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate access to the Paid Subscription until payment is received.

33.8. If you cancel your Paid Subscription before the end of the current subscription period, the cancellation will take effect at the end of that subscription period, and you will be downgraded to the Free Service (or equivalent non-paid access tier, if applicable). No refunds or partial credits shall be provided for any unused portion of the subscription period unless required by applicable law.

33.9. FACEIT may change the price for the Paid Subscriptions from time to time, and will communicate any price changes to you. Price changes for Paid Subscriptions will take effect at the start of the next subscription period following the date of the price change. By continuing to use the FACEIT Service after the price change takes effect, you accept the new price.

33.10. We may run limited-time pricing experiments (including showing different prices to randomly assigned cohorts within the same country) and we may set different base prices by billing country/currency. We may also offer discounted rates for longer subscription periods (for example, multi-month or annual plans). The price shown to you at checkout is the price that applies to your purchase. Eligibility for regional prices and discounts is determined using (i) your geolocation and (ii) information from your payment provider (for example, billing country/currency); we may also use technical signals (such as approximate IP-based location) to prevent abuse and to display a correct price. If these signals do not match, we may apply the standard price or the price for your payment method’s billing country.. We do not block access to the Services on the basis of nationality, residence or location and, in the EEA/UK, we do not refuse compliant cross-border consumer payments within the same card brand where strong customer authentication and standard processing conditions are met. Where required by law, we will disclose if a price is personalised or shown as part of a pricing test. Any discounts are discretionary, may vary by region and time, and are subject to change. We will handle any personal data used for eligibility checks in accordance with our Privacy Notice. It is prohibited to use the same payment method (including, without limitation, a credit card, debit card, PayPal account, digital wallet or other stored payment instrument) for multiple accounts, except where such payment method is owned by a family member of yours. We may suspend your account if we believe in our sole discretion that a payment was made with a payment method not owned by you or your family member.

45.2. Downloads and other material you obtain through the Site or Services are at your own discretion and risk; you are responsible for any damage to your device or loss of data that results. 45.6. If FACEIT fails to enforce any part of these Terms, or delays doing so, that will not be a waiver of its rights and does not prevent it from enforcing that part (or any other part) later. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by FACEIT, and will apply only to the specific instance identified. A partial exercise of a right does not preclude further exercises, and all rights and remedies are cumulative.

Limitation of liability

46.1. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your non-waivable statutory rights).

46.2. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

a) we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary loss or damage, or for loss of profits, revenue, goodwill, use, data, business interruption or other intangible losses, even if foreseeable or we have been advised of the possibility of such loss;

46.3. For Paid Subscriptions or other paid features, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or in connection with the Services will not exceed the total fees you paid to FACEIT for the relevant paid features in the six (6) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. For use of the free Services, our liability to you is limited to £100. In all cases these limitations of liability apply in aggregate to all claims, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), statutory or otherwise, and whether brought by you alone or with others. You must take reasonable steps to mitigate your losses.

Indemnification

47.1. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless FACEIT, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and each of their respective directors, officers, employees, shareholders, vendors, partners, contractors, agents, licensors and representatives, and their successors and assigns (collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, investigations and proceedings (whether threatened or actual), and all resulting losses, liabilities, damages, fines, penalties, interest, judgments, settlements, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ and experts’ fees and costs) arising out of or relating to: (a) your use or misuse of the Site or Services; (b) any Member Content you submit, upload, post or otherwise make available; (c) your breach of these Terms, any applicable law or regulation, or any third-party terms applicable to games/platforms you connect; (d) any allegation that your conduct or Member Content infringes, misappropriates or violates any intellectual property, proprietary, privacy, publicity or other rights of any person; (e) any fraud, cheating, manipulation of outcomes, exploitation of defects, security breach, spam or other prohibited conduct by you; (f) disputes between you and any other Member or third party; and (g) chargebacks, reversals, payment disputes, taxes or governmental assessments attributable to your activity.

47.2. FACEIT may, at its option, assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter subject to indemnification (without limiting your indemnity obligations). You will cooperate fully and promptly with the Indemnified Parties in the defence of any matter, including by providing information and attending proceedings. You must not settle any matter without FACEIT’s prior written consent (not to be unreasonably withheld where the settlement includes a full release of all Indemnified Parties and imposes no admission of liability or non-monetary obligations on them). FACEIT may settle any matter on reasonable terms and seek recovery from you to the extent covered by your indemnity. Your obligations under this section apply regardless of whether the relevant activity was undertaken by you or through your account (whether or not authorised by you), except where caused by FACEIT’s wilful misconduct or fraud. This section survives termination of these Terms and your use of the Services.

Force Majeure

48.1. FACEIT shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations under these Terms to the extent caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including (without limitation) acts of God, natural disaster, pandemic, fire, flood, war, terrorism, civil unrest, governmental action, sanctions, changes in law, industrial action, failure of third-party networks or infrastructure, power outages, or cyber-attacks ("Force Majeure Event").

48.2. Where a Force Majeure Event occurs: (a) FACEIT's affected obligations are automatically suspended for the duration; (b) FACEIT will endeavour to notify Members via the Site or email, though failure to do so shall not affect FACEIT's right to rely on this clause; and (c) FACEIT will use reasonable endeavours to resume performance as soon as practicable, without obligation to incur material additional cost.

48.3. If a Force Majeure Event continues for more than ninety (90) days, FACEIT may at its sole discretion modify, suspend or terminate the affected Services, with its sole obligation being, to the extent required by applicable law, a pro-rata refund of prepaid fees for undelivered Services from the date of termination.

48.4. For the avoidance of doubt: (a) Members' payment obligations already due are unaffected; (b) prize claim windows and Member deadlines do not automatically extend unless FACEIT expressly determines otherwise; and (c) FACEIT's determination as to whether a Force Majeure Event has occurred and its duration shall, absent manifest error, be conclusive.

Governing Law and Disputes

49.1. These Terms shall be governed by the laws of England & Wales, without regard to its conflict of law provisions, and the parties hereto submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of London, England. In the event of any dispute, action, proceeding or controversy regarding the existence, validity, interpretation, performance, enforcement or claimed breach of these Terms, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover all of its costs and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, incurred in connection therewith.

Statute of limitations

50.1. To the extent permitted by law, you must bring any claim or cause of action arising out of or relating to the Site, the Services, these Terms or the Privacy Notice within one (1) year from the date the claim accrues; otherwise, the claim is permanently barred.

Third-party

51.1. No person other than you and FACEIT has any right to enforce any term of these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, and the parties may rescind or vary these Terms without the consent of any third party.

Entire Agreement; Waiver; Headings

52.1. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and FACEIT regarding the Site, the Services and all matters covered by these Terms, and replace all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements, whether written or oral, on this subject.

52.3. Section and paragraph headings are for convenience only and do not affect the meaning or interpretation of these Terms.
